  1. leave it alone, it doesn't matter what kind of bear it is, just keep your distance and leave it  alone..bears are much stronger and faster than you. If a black bear attacks you, fight back, if a grizzly attacks you curl up in a ball or get in the fetal position.


  2. If it's far away, use your telephoto lens when you photograph it. If it's a moderate distance away, yell or make noise some way. If you've stumbled on one and it's right on top of you, bend over, stick your head between your legs, and kiss your butt goodbye. Seriously, the usual advice is to play dead and protect the back of your neck, while you are lying prone. Never tried it myself.

  4. What kind of bear?

    Theres a difference in how you should react to say a black bear versus a brown bear vs a polar bear, vs a panda bear btw which isn't really a bear at all.
