  1. Whatever you do: DON'T HIT THEM!!!  I can't tell how many times I've gone out, and some child is throwing a tantrum, and their parent feels the need to slap them.  Do you REALLY think hitting a screaming child will get them to stop?

I'm not a mom yet, but I know that if I do have kids, and they throw a tantrum, I will try to talk them through it.  Don't give in to what they want; just get them to understand that if they want something or if they feel sick or whatever, they can tell you without screaming.  Tell them that you can't hear them when they scream.  Pretend you're deaf.  Or, throw them off by hugging them.

  2. Don't let them start having tantrums to begin with!!!

  3. You will know what works for your child when it happens. What works for me is just telling them that I can't understand what they want when they are doing that and then walking away as I say when you are ready to talk and act nice I can talk to you. Ignore what happens next and wait for them to stop ( sometimes up to an hour)

  4. Breath through it,  it is different when it is your own child.  Once he/she gets to the age of tantrums, you will have learned how best to handle him/her.  Each child is different what works with one may not work with another
