it hurts to walk and its pulling on my arch too.

i tried icing but it didn't work.

maybe new shoes ? or orthopedics?

i need something to make it better, or just to know if its because o pulled a muscle in my feet, and how do i make it better

  1. First, check your shoes.  Are they brand new?  Are they very old?  Either way, it wouldn't be a good idea to run on those.

If that isn't it, try seeing a doctor.  Often, they know little things, like maybe to stretch something or ice somewhere else...

  2. see a doctor, if its that painful

  3. I have the exact same problem!

I also found a cheap slip in gel pad, for the ball of foot.

The first week or so they felt a lot better.  But, they get worn out quickly.

So I am looking into orthopedics, but not the very expensive kind, since the pain is not that bad.  But yes, it kills to stretch my balls of feet to! :/

ugh!  Also, icing helps a bit.  10 minutes on, ten minutes off.  Unfortunately, it does not completely relieve the pain.  So, I would suggest gel pads and if these do not work go to the doctors.

  4. The shoes may be your first step - in terms of running life for shoes they are usually based on miles rather than months. Running shoes can last 100 miles or more or less. Check the brands' website for this information or your local running store.

For the balls of your feet - this happened to me when I ran over 10 miles. I was able to find a shoe insole that slips into the bottom of the shoe called SuperFeet. There are various levels of support, but that solved the problem for me.

You may also check and see how your foot is landing. If you are mostly landing on the balls of your feet and they are absorbing the majority of the impact that could be causing the pain. You should be using the entire foot with each stride and try not to focus the impact in one specific area.

I keep a runner's blog if you are interested, it usually has some good tips and fun stories. See below
