  1. French food might be fun and easy.  You could even bring in some samples to share with your class.

  2. The obvious thing that comes to mind immediately is food. You could begin by pointing out the differences in French meal times and eating habits. (The fact that dinner is eaten very late by American standards for example.)

You could then contrast the French emphasis on eating fresh, locally grown and seasonal products with the American supermarket driven use of standardized products often shopped great distances.

then you could describe some actual French dishes both showing things that are quite different than what Americans eat (like pate) and those things that are really very much the same.

Finally you could talk about the influence of France on america and vice versa. i.e. talk about the growing number of McDonalds and Starbucks in France.

Now if you wanted to something a bit more intellectual, you could compare and contrast the American and French forms of government. The difference in power between the French and American presisdent. The role of the of the French Premier versus the American Speaker of the House.  The American Federal system versus the French centralized government model. The American common law judicial model versus the French Civil Law model.

If you choose either of thsee as your project I'd be happy to give you some help.

  3. You should talk about "French Lovers" and the way we kiss here in France  :)

also the Fact that we are the most Romantic people :)

    true true

  4. The cuisine and make like crêpe or something.

  5. Another interesting one could be the presidential campaigns: it is so different between the US and France.

  6. Do it about Belgium. The French-speaking part of Belgium may become its own entity; kind of interesting. Same with Quebec up in Canada. Or possible, Cajun French, spoken in Louisiana.

  7. French fashion--haute couture. Coco Chanel.

  8. I would suggest two topics to choose from:  Lafayette, a French National hero for his participation in the American Revolution and his frendship with George Washington.  He really helped us win our freedom from England; or do it on Normandy and the events on D-Day during World War II.  The invasion was part of the movie "Saving Private Ryan" and is a very interesting subject.  Just my ideas.

  9. you know i did a french project in the 6th grade, and i did mine on Napoleon, the first french emeperor, i think, but yeah i did mine on Napoleon
