  1. Sleep and read.

  2. This question (or at least the basic outline of it) gets asked at least once a day and while I often try to help with suggestions I'm usually shaking my head. A teacher (I don't even remember which one it was now) told me, oh, 50 years of so ago that only borING people get borED. That may be an oversimplification but I've seen by now that there's at least an element of truth in it.

So here you are, asking what to do with yourself but ruling out from the outset probably two of the top four ways people typically spend time on flights, long or not. Anything else you want to reject before I waste my time suggesting it?

So, what would you be doing for that time if you weren't on an airplane? Think about how, if you can't do exactly that on the plane, you can bring some of the enjoyable elements to your traveling experience.

  3. Sleep a bit.

Magazines if you're not a book worm.

Walk around a bit - I don't know why, but people say that is a must on long rides. Go to the bathroom or pretend to ask the stewards (sp) something.

Play a card game with the person next to you, or have a light chat.

sketch (even if its stick figures, you could do a stick fig. comic) or write

Hope you get a window seat.

You don't like music...or books. Do you hate to write too? (serious question) Well...to each its own I guess.

  4. the longest plane ride ive taken has been 7 hours and on those flights i try to sleep as long as i can, hopefully you will have your own tv's (those occupy very well)

  5. I travel quite a bit....try some of these things:

    -a Big book of Suduko

    -"Games" magazine...very kewl stuff.

    -"Psychology Today" or "Glamour"

-Write long love letters to your present (or future) guy or short stories about what you want to do with your present (or future) guy

-Movies on Ipod (bring a power booster)

-Take a little pillow, eye mask and ear plugs and take a nap..or pretend to.

    -PSP...hand held games

-if you have a laptop, journal, use Paint Shop to make graphics, play games.

-take a portable dvd player and watch a movie

-bring a ziplock bag of snacks like yogurt bars, dried fruits, etc.

-strike up a conversation with the person next to you...even if they don't want to..

-play mind games with your seat mate. See if you can get control of the armrest....its fun..
