I am working on a movie done with sims 2 and I got some people wanting to do the girl's voice. so I sent this one girl the script and I clearly told her to pick 5 or 6 lines out,say them, and send them so i could hear wat she sounds like. SHE GOES AHEAD AND DOES THE WHOLE DANG SCRIPT!! It took her a week to do and i will feel sooo guilty if I don't give her the part. There are other people who sound better for the chraracter too so I don't know what to tell her. I don't want her to have wasted her time. What would you do?

this is a effects test I did with the video(yay sims!)

  1. your job isn't to feel guilt...it's to cast people, based on recordings they made (aka following your instructions) to the best of your ability. you can let a part of yourself feel guilty if you want, but within the reality of the job you're doing, you can not. you must make the most logical choice, regardless of who that is, and move on. besides, auditioning isn't a waste of time...it's a requirement for gettting jobs. she should know the pit falls of what she's doing.

  2. well honestly, its her fault for not listening.  you have to think about what is best for your script.  make sure that you dont think she's the best before you tell her that though. and above all, she didnt listen to what you said, do you want to work with someone who does what they want when they want? its not your fault what she did. think about your goals and if she would help you achieve them. if not tell her. just dont be mean, be honest. besides, she knew that there were other candidates and she might not get it, right?

  3. You cast the ones who follow direction and are better.

  4. With no offense to her,,,or you certainly, SHE did not follow as instructed.

YOU however should be a bit more Objective, especially as regards GUILT.

"Your" undertaking, "your" project, seems to be valid, though I didn't check the link. WHO responds, might be very eager, even talented in voice over, BUT YOU are the GOD, or in this case GODDESS, and you did offer specifics of what you wanted and expected.

Assume this for a moment. If YOU were DIRECTING a major or minor production, and those in your "service" chose to improvise, where would your CONTROL be?

I might,,,if I was you, be civil and explain your position, as well as HER not following specific guidelines, but I'd audition others, EVEN if you choose to keep HER hanging, for some other, minor part,,, OR get beyond it for the sake of the production.
