  1. First of all, no DJ on the radio wants a listener to call in and ASK for tickets.  If they are running a contest giving away free tickets, then it is okay to call in.  But to just cold call a DJ (who is already very busy) and ask for free tickets is looking to p**s the jock off.

Do yourself a favor: DO NOT call the station receptionist and ask to be connected to Greg Street.  She will laugh at you.  Give it a rest and the let the guy do his job.  And if you ever want to be on the air, make sure you have something intelligent to say if he ever picks up the phone.  Otherwise, he will probably hang up on you.

  2. Atlanta is a very big city, with very big stations, so everything's automated. What you hear on the air is indeed the recordings made by people like you who call in.

Be prepared, be excited, maybe blurt out your song and "Howzabout some free tix, Greg!"

    Might work, probably not.

  3. Um , just call.  Chances of getting on live these days and talking to the actual DJ is getting rare,  alot of times, with the exception of AM/PM drive, there is a board op there that loops phone call ins into a pre recorded track from the dj.  I agree w/ adam also that calling in and asking for stuff is prolly not the best way to go,  do you know how many people a day try that?

  4. Just guessing-- but an educated guess: probably when you hear somebody requesting a song you are hearing the request they recorded.  If somebody actually gets on the air live they are probably just chosen at random when they call and there probably isn't any way you can make that happen except to call often and be lucky.  Of course you could call the studio and ask the receptionist how people get to talk to him.  Or you could go down to the station and corner Greg Street and ask him what a girl has to do to get to talk to him on th radio.
