  1. If you are pretty dominate at DE you should pull him to the side and just tell him. It sounds like he may be scared your team wont have a running game if he puts you at defensive end. Why cant you play two positions? When I was in middle school and highschool me and alot of guys played on offense and defense. Especially the linemen that had speed. When I was in tenth grade our quarterback ran back punts as well as being the  QB. I play cornerback and wide receiver. We may take a series off on one side of the bacll once or twice in a game but we just had to do it.

You can also start fumbling alot and stop running hard but i wouldnt advise that.

  2. I am going to try and help you out.  It might seem like I am busting your chops but I'm really not.

    Football is a team sport.

    You are on the team.

In theory you will do whatever you need to do to help the team win.

This means that it doesn't matter what position you want to play.  The only thing that matters is that you play wherever the coach thinks you need to play to help the team win.

You need to tell your coach that you are interested in the DE position.  Say, "Gee Coach, just so you know in case we get some injuries or something, I'm more than willing to step up and be a DE if you think it will help the team win."

    And then drop it.

If your defense practices separately from your offense observe those practices.

Otherwise just work your butt off to be the best halfback you can to help your team win.

Assume that your coach knows what's up and he is making good decisions.  If he thinks that he needs you at DE he will put you there.

  3. ask him for 1 practice or game to let you play that position

  4. well ask him b4 practice and tell him to at least let you try at a game once and after ask him how he likes it
