  1. parvovirus usually affects only those dogs below 12 months old. and the only risk of a dog acquiring parvovirus is if he comes near an infected dog's p**p or urine or if you happen to step on one then unknowingly, you come home wearing the infected footwear and you step on the places that your dog frequents

  2. They are up to date on their shots, and they are older, they should be okay. I would stay away until she gets the dogs healthy, and her house clear of parvo virus myself. But you should call your vet and take your dogs in for the titre testing to make sure that they have proper immunity to the virus.

You should change shoes and pants especially if you need to go over there.

  3. Contact your vet and make sure that they received the parvo vaccination in there combination of shots and confirm they are up to date. If they received this vaccination, they are up to date, and they are adult dogs then you should have little to worry about. The parvo vaccine is a very good one. However, I would not to put your dogs at greater risk by introducing them to the infected pups until the pups are well.

  4. If your dogs are up to date on their vaccinations you have no worries.  If you are really nervous, change your clothes and shoes before having contact with your dogs.  Parvo can be killed with a 10% bleach solution.

  5. If your dogs shots are up to date then that will more than likely prevent your dogs from contracting parvo. Parvo is very easily contracted and while the risk is higher for puppies, and black/brown breeds, it doesn't guarantee that your dog would not contract it. If you notice any abnormal signs then call your vet asap. My Pug had parvo and survived. The symptoms will hit at a rapid pace. Low body temperature, vomiting, runny foul smelling stool, and lethargy are common signs. You may want to check with your vet to see if you can get your dogs a parvo booster.

  6. It shouldn't matter as long as his shots are current, but if you want to make sure check with his vet.

  7. You better contact your vet

  8. If your dogs are both over 2 years old they can not get parvo.

That is an illness that only affects dogs under a year old. But one thing your girl friend can do is bleach everything the dogs came in contact with. If the puppies are still alive there is this stuff called parvaid look it up on the enet. really good stuff pulled my baby out of the jaws of death.

  9. If your dogs are up to date on their vaccines then it shouldn't be a problem.  I would contact your vet to verify that your dogs were vaccinated for parvo.  Also, wash your hands and anything that comes in contact with the germ because parvo is a very hardy germ that can live on surfaces up to a year.  You don't want to spread it other dogs that have not been vaccinated.  Your friends dogs should be under a vet's care as this is a nasty and often times fatal disease.

  10. Go to the vet and get a distemper shot. But since both your dogs have all their shots they should be completly fine

  11. OH wow, that's a really serious illness!!  I was just reading up on parvo to answer your question.

Here's a site for your girlfriend:

It sounds like your dogs are safe.  You should call your vet just to make sure though.

  12. My first thought is check with your vet.  Even though your dogs are older and up to date on their shots, it won't hurt for them to get a booster.  My daughter did this for her older dog when her younger dog got the virus and died.  The dogs your girlfriend got should be taken to the vet immediately and treated.  While they are out of the house and before they come home, she needs to clean EVERYTHING the dogs came into contact with.  Carpets, bedding, and spray a bleach solution outside in the yard.  I don't blame you for being concerned.
