  1. cancun is veeeery far from mexico city like 30 hours in the bus, unless you a re in for a real adventure, i would recomend you find a closer beach destination, or take a plain there. the closest beach is acapulcoaout 4-5 hours, you have to visit cuernavaca i'ts a beautiful city south of mexico about an hour and tepoztlan, beatiful town, very touristy but nice

  2. get back on the plane and fly elsewhere

  3. Hello: I'm from Mexico City, first of all this is a great place to visit no matter if you're on business or vacation but you have to consider your budget, that way you can look better for a place to stay, restaurants, bars, museums, etc. There's something else you may consider too. Because there are some unsafe neighbourhoods and is better not to be around them. This is a very big city and the traffic is too much, so the best zone to stay is near downtown, that way you will be close to almost avery attraction (museums, nice restaurants, etc.) If you need any help feel free to contact me. maybe I can help.

  4. Mexico City is such a big place tht ull have 2 plan ur time. I suggest u 2 take the turibus tht is a hop on hop off buss tht will take u 2 all the interesting spits in the city, its not expensive and ull b able 2 enjoy the view when going frm one part 2 the other:

MUSEUMS. As mex city is the city in the world with more museums ull have 2 choose one or 2 tht u wanna visit. There r bis ones in Av. Reforma (Natural History or Antopology) and many small ones all arround the Centro Histórico, i like this 2:

  6. you should fly to Cancun.. long travel by land.  They have a new domestic airline there called Volaris.. check it out because it is cheap and the airplanes are nice and new..

  7. Go to the taxi counter that is INSIDE the airport and prepay for a taxi to your hotel..they gve you a icket to take out to the taxi line.  These are safe taxis.  That is not to say that riding in a txi in Mexico City is not an "adventure"...they drive like maniacs...but you find yourself rooting for "your" taxi driver!  if you have not selected a hotel...here is a very modestly priced , safe, nice place in an excellent part of town...A  B &B.  Owner speaks English. See site below...can't beat the price.  Be sure to read the whole page...good info. Also, if you do decide to go there, there is NO sign on the gate...just a big dk. blue gate with a bell at #69 Rio Sena, ring the bell and give them a couple of minutes to walk up to the gate...you will be very happy with this place.   And they can advise you on places to go in the city.  Cancun is EAST from Mexico City...a VERY long way.  Best way to go is take a bus....and pick at least 2 or 3 cities to visit on the way...like Veracruz...you will love it. Be sure to go to the centro historico with the sidewalk cafes, and to the OUTSTANDING aquarium in Veracruz.  See 2nd site for bus schedule info.  These are great buses and leave from the TAPO station in Mexico City.  Remember the prices are listed  in PESOS.

  8. Make sure you take an authorized taxi from the airport.

DO NOT EVER GET INTO A TWO DOOR TAXI - ESPECIALLY A VW BUG. These (some not all, but don't risk it) are the horror story taxis. Because its two door, you must sit in the back, and from there, you can be kidnapped, robbed, etc.

Be careful also with extra passengers - some taxis will pick up multiple clients if they are headed in the same direction. Be really careful bc this can be a scam. I also tell the drive no other clients while I'm in the car - or i'll walk. If he starts to stop, open the door like your getting out - he'll get the picture.

Hope I didn't scare you - enjoy your trip.

    and

Also, when you travel out of Mexico City, other great places to visit in central and southern Mexico include: Puebla, Cholula, Cuernavaca, Tepoztlan (and Tepozteco Pyramid), Taxco, Xochicalco, Acupulco, Oaxaca and Monte Alban, and much more!!  Have a great trip!
