What should i do when im trying to find a golfclub membership in a new area?

I just moved into the ann arbor area in michigan and there are about 12 golf courses in the area. I used to be able to play for free at the golf course i worked at. I try to get out like two or three times a week. Ive never tried to apply for a golf membership before so i dont realy know what it entails. I dont make a whole lot of money so i probably wont be going to a really ritzy place. My price limit will probably be around 900

    The cheapest private club probably is the Washtenaw Country Club. But that's going to run $5,000 a year.

    Other than that, most of the public courses offer season passes, which likely are your best bet for repeat play. Pine View has had good deals in the past and is a good course.  StoneBridge, Reddeman Farms, and Lake Forest are some other good choices. I have all of those on my list because they'll let you walk.

    Outside of that immediate area, Moose Ridge is excellent, but doesn't allow walkers.
