Question:

What should i do with my workout?

im on varsity xcountry and track and im the best on the team were training right now for xcountry. my coach wants to run fast most of the days but he is kinda an idiot. i dont know if i should just take this summer easy but some days hard or should i take everyday hard? im just afriad that i am going to metally break down of running and get sick of it. what should i do/

Your coach is an idiot.  Take a cue from RunnersWorld.com and get in one long run, one easy/recovery run and one tempo run per week.  The rest of the days should be personalized for your specific running goals.  If you haven't already, subscribe to the magazine.  I am a self taught long distance runner myself and training hard everyday will only lead to burnout.

What AC said is a good pt., you only need 2 or 3 hard days each week the rest should be easy recovery runs or even a day or two off each week.  If your doing a "long" run it is considered a hard run and then do either a tempo or fartlek (here is an example)          http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,71...            Run getting in about 2-4 miles of fast pace running.  Don't do back to back hard days, spread them out and put your easy runs in between them.  Whatever you do don't get sick of running, enjoy it.......good luck!
