okay so my cat had a kitten about 6-7weeks ago and we have just booked her in for spaying on wed-the kitten has moved onto formula milk as well as still feeding from my cat.The thing is the kitten wants to fight all the time with my cat and it can get rough-sometimes i have to break the playing up because the kitten starts crying,so when my cat has being spayed i really dont want to be taking her back to the vets because the healing cut has being damaged while fighting or something.Do you think i should keep the kitten away from her mum for a few days and feed her on her formula?or do you think i should just leave them together?

  1. ask your vet. they should have some good imput that problem

  2. The kitten does not eat her Mothers milk anymore and will have to be separated from her mother for about a week after the surgery.

  3. single kitten litters are unusual.  Kittens play mostly with each other but the kitten has only one playmate.. adult kats to not play like kittens

kittens try to bite and scratch but usually can not really hurt each other.   Which cat is injured?

  4. well i would keep them sepret cause i mean u have the mom spayed and then its like why bother with kittens any more i dont have hormones any more so idc what happens to them...thats basicaly what the mommy might be sayin to herself and the kittys like mommy mommy let me feed im hungry n then its like something from down with the sickness like mommy i hungry stop it! help! help mommy no love me waaaaah

  5. at 6 weeks it does NOT need the milk.. the only good milk forumla is KMR and its very expensive.. the others are milk treats - gimicks to get sales with no nutritional value..

I am thilled that you are getting your cat spayed!!!

keep them seperate for a while so mom can rest - she needs to be in a room by her self for a few days.. the kitten will be fine on kitten food - mom needs to be on adult food to help dry her up.

somebody mentioned Iams and Science Diet food - both are low quality food at high prices... only slightly better than purina and whiskas but still are terrible foods..

  6. I think you are right to keep them separated for a day or so while the mom recovers from surgery. Once she is better and with her kitten again I wouldn't worry too much about their fighting unless one gets injured. This is how kitties learn what behavior is appropriate. Cats that go through this stage end up having better behavior as an adult.

  7. I would keep them apart, if it's truly fighting.  It might just be rough play.  You can go to a pet store and get a little bottle and some kitten formula and feed the kitten that way.  The kitten should also be eating some kitten food at this point, so try so Iams or Hill Science Diet food for kittens.

  8. They could just be playing and it does get rough sometimes. We have a 8 week old kitten and she always pounces on her adopted mom, My cat acts like her mom, but anyways if the kitten cries just pull them apart. she cries cause shes smaller and not as dominant. I won't worry about it.

  9. keep them apart but a 6-7week old kitten should be on solid dry cat food .

You may have to soften it a little with formula but dry and just plain water to drink at this ags....
