Question:

What should i eat after a wisdom tooth extraction?

I'm having all four taken out this tuesday and I'm scared. i know i cant drink through a straw but what kinds of food would be ok to eat the first couple of days? would like mandarin oranges be ok because they are little and you don't have to chew them? please help

  2. No don't eat oranges -- the acid would burn in the open wounds.

    Your oral surgeon will give you a list of things to eat as well as instructions on what you should and shouldn't do the first few days. It's best to follow that advice.  The pain meds you are given may make you sleepy and you really won't care about eating much the first day or so anyway.

  3. The first day you should try to just eat some liquid food. After that start with stuff like oatmeal, pudding, ice cream, yogurt etc. etc. You will lose a lot of weight but  you can just gain all of it back when you get to eat all the other foods you like. :) If they give you Vicodin make sure to eat before taking it. Taking it on an empty stomach will just make you vomit and you will not be in a good mood all day. After a while when you can actually talk a bit and open your mouth, try some soup but nothing with meat and just try chewing with the front of your teeth.
