  1. Eat well the night before. many runners like pasta on the night before race day. You can have something pretty simple in your stomach as long as its not much (aka, a small powerbar/granola bar etc) - since its an 800 which takes significantly more physical exertion than lets say, a 1600 or 3200. Have bananas the day before. Fruit juice, preferably orange juice, that morning is good. That will give u plenty of potassium. Don't scrimp out on sodium either. a little bit of salt is also important so your muscles don't lock up. Drink plenty of water, and make sure u are going to the bathroom.

oh. you can have the granola bar 20 mins -> 2-3 hours before you race. get a good warm up and break a sweat.

And do yourself a favor and don't eat bagels on race day.

  2. The last days leading up to your race you should be drinking plenty of waters. If you drink a lot of water the day of your race it will do you no good. You have to have been hydrated before the day of your race. Try to stay hydrated. The day before the race it is good to eat pasta or plenty of carbohydrates for dinner. The day of the race you should eat until up to 2 or 3 hours before you actually run. If your race is in the morning then you can just eat a banana or something that will give you energy. If it is after school or something then get in a good breakfast. Maybe a bagel or toast and eggs. For lunch you can have a peanut butter jelly sandwich and a banana. Peanut Butter is always good. Try to stay away from sugars or anything like that. They will give you energy but then you will just crash afterwards. You can also have some peanut butter crackers and stuff like that. Okay, well good luck! I hope you do great in the 800.

  3. pasta, eat pasta the day be4 the meet, carbs give u energy and pasta has a lot of carbs, so eat up.

in the morning eat something like oats or a breakfast bar. Dont drink milk, it can give u a sour stomach and dont drink apple juice or orange juice, it can give you heartburn if ur not carefull. good luck

  4. Well the night before eat anything pasta and lots of water and then the morning of the event eat oatmeal w/no sugar& milk, baked potatoe with no salt. Then things to bring with you to the track meet is nuturagrain bars, bottle water, protein bars and lots of bottle water, and fruits. But don't over eat before a event and between events, and after is okey as long as the next event is a long time away. Make sure you stay away from jusnk food and remember your in training if you want to do good in your events. During an event if it is cold then its important to keep warm adn if th event is hot then just make sure you don't get lazy and be a little not to much, energized between events. Make sure your just relaxed and ready and focus.

  5. PB& J  sandwich, is the best because it sits well in the stomach and you have fuel (carbohydrates, and sugar) but eat half of it like 30 min. before your race and drink water to stay hydrated, then eat the rest after your race.

  6. pasta+tomato sauce and bread the night of

my preference for morning of is oatmeal(2 packets of quaker instant oatmeal fills me up), an orange, and i have milk w/ protein powder, but thats just me.  I would suggest an orange (definitely) and something whole grain with oats (oatmeal is this) like granola.  Even though some people say you shouldnt drink milk, i think skim milk is light enough, and i add protein powder cuz thats how i roll.  If your race is really early, i would suggest against milk(my races arent usually until 11 o clock on weekends so i can digest) and a big breakfast, but if you think you can digest your food, you should eat pretty well so you have energy+dont get hungry again and have to eat close to running time.  Just make sure to stay away from eggs or stuff with cheese(anything dairy, except as i said i think milk is fine)

if your race is in the afternoon, you wanna make sure to eat something real, but not to big, like a turkey sandmich(pbj is good also)  if you want a little snack, try nature valley granola bars, just make sure not to eat to much.

  7. eat meat or anything with lots of protein 2 days before. pasta or something high in carbs the night before and the day of, eat light all day. a small breakfast and a few granola bars throughout the meet always did well for me.
