  1. 7th grade. hmmmm. not at all intense. don't worry. just make sure you are able to serve. 7th grade volleyball is all serving. you are already ahead of the game. doing camps and practicing(20 minutes a day is enough to improve a ton) is the best way to stay in shape and keep your skills up for the season. if you have sibling or even parents with extra time its good to play a little one on one in the yard or have games when you have the family over for dinner. good luck :)

  2. It depends really what your school is like. My school you should know the basics of passing, setting, and hitting. If you can serve overhand that would be a HUGE bonus. Try your best to work on that. You going to camps is a big step, showing that you are committed and that you know a thing or two. If you got a shirt from this camp you went to I would suggest wearing it to tryout as well.

  3. i do not know how your school is, but i will be trying out for the 8th grade team this year, so i was pretty recently in 7th grade tryouts. but NEVER show that you are complaining and not trying hard, or have a bad aditude. the coach's will assume you are not willing to work hard

dont assume you dont need to try hard either, and if you make the team dont lower your standards.

Good luck i am just as nervouse as you are!!!

    =]!!!

and dont listen to allthe other people who are probably adults saying if u can serve the ball you are good to go. IT IS NOT TRUE. it amy not be intence and hard like high school college or pro ball, but just being able to do the basics, wont cut it. PLEASE listen to me when i say dont listen to people who say thos things.

  4. It'll be tough. I just graduated from the 7th grade and all the tryouts i went were tough, I dont play volleyball but you should expect hard work and they willl push you. good luck

  5. It will prolly be tough depending on the coaches. You just have to try to stand out so that the coach noticed your skills. Be a team player- cheer for everyone and dont make it look like you hate someone on the team! Good luck, itll be fine!

  6. Well, 7th grade team is all about fundamentals. You don't have to be perfect and you don't have to know everything. It would definitely help if you have gone through some camps and clinics.

It really depends on how many girls will go to try out at your school. If you have 20+ players showing up at the try out, expect some conditioning and running. You will be asked to serve, bump/pass, and do some hitting. If you know how to set, tell the coach to give a chance... but you don't have to be good at setting. You are expected to serve 5+ (out of 10) into the court, and know or quickly learn how to do 3-step approach. Anything extra is a plus.

A good 7th grade team would need six good servers, two or more "above average" setters, five or more good passers, and two or more "consistent" hitters. You don't have to know how to dive or how to roll, but it would be nicer if you can do one of those "advanced" movement (be careful, you don't want to hurt yourself). It would be nice to have tall and strong hitter, but it is more important to hit the ball consistently, or place the ball consistently.

You may judge the competitiveness of your tryout by watching how many hands are up when your coach asks questions like "who played volleyball before", "who played club before".

  7. work hard and get in shape

also work on over hand serves otherwise if u get to highschool u wont make the team if u dont have consistent overhand serves

  8. Since this is only 7th grade it won't be as rash as some of most volleyball try-outs like if you already know most positions while other girls probably don't in 7th grade that's a plus because I remember most girls on my 7th grade team took up to 2-3weeks to get comfortable in rotation.

Regular volleyball drills that you probably learned in your camps/clinics like hitting lines, serve receive passing or just passing lines.

I'm not sure if you guys have fitness tests but coach's want players who won't tire out in a middle of a 5 minute volley and loose the point because your out of breath.

One of my tips is to cheer on all your competition and players, coach's love this knowing you always encourage other players on and don't get let down easily. Remember this is a TEAM sport so if one person's mood is off the whole team will follow in a game.

    Good Luck

  9. well, when i tried out for the jr team there were about 50 girls there. and my school is like the smallest you will ever see, so unfortunately only less than 1/5 of them made it. not to scare you or anything lol, but just be ready. my coach tested us on setting, bumping, serving (usually underhand), serve receive (reacting to a serve), knowledge of the game, co operation, reaction time, calling the ball (hint: NEVER say "yours" cuz no one knows who ur talking to!) and stuff like that.

just remember: be calm, have fun and do your best

    hope that helped, good luck
