What should i expect in boarding school and what do u think of groton school in mass?

i was thinking of going to boarding school and my parents were like ok. i chose groton school cuz i heard it was an excellent school. i am from california and i attended school in arizona for a year in 7th grade(currently). are school different in every state and if i go to groton for 8th grade, would i be behind? also how was it when you went to boarding school and wat should i be expecting? is boarding school harder than public school? if u wanna buy new clothes, where do u buy it? i know im asking so mch question but if u can can u answer them all?? thank you

Hello again. You'll find Groton much more demanding than most public schools and certainly much more so than the CA public schools I've seen. At boarding school days are much more full as everyone plays a sport at some level most seasons. You'll have study hours at night at Groton too, so you're busy all day. There are lots of clubs and events in the evenings. Groton is small with 300ish students and is a very tight community. Everyone I know who has gone there loves it. You may want to read the book Prep, it was written by a Groton graduate.

Sometimes kids will go clothes shopping in Boston but you'll mostly get clothes at home on your many breaks or online from popular sites like Shopbop.

You should think about applying to more than just one school if you want to go to boarding school. There are an unbelievably small number of spaces at a small school like Groton after they accept all of the legacies, siblings, faculty kids, athletes, range of minorities and others connected to the school. It's peer schools are of sameish size and prestige are St. Paul's and Deerfield. These schools all accept under 20% so you may also want to add some less competitive schools to your list, especially if you need a significant amount of financial aid. Good luck!
