I'm working on making Staten Island Tech next year. Does anyone know the cutoff or the material that will be on the test? I'm pretty sure it will be a lot harder than the 8th grade test, but how much harder? Can somebody please help me, I really want to start studying early. Thanks~

  1. Hi, the 9th grade SHSAT will include harger algebra, trigonmentry and probably harder geometry problems. Some of the content like logical reasoning shouldn't be painfully difficult but should be like the 8th grade version. The cutoff, although i cannot really predict might be in the extremely high 500's to early 600's for Stuyvesant , the middle to high 500's for Bronx Science and maybe around the middle to low 500's for Brooklyn Tech, Staten Island Tech and the smaller specialized high schools. These are rough estimates so they might not entirely be correct. I plan on taking the 9th Grade SHSAT test also, so anyways I wish you good luck.

P.S. Do not underestimate the math section because it actually is worth more than I thought.. A perfect score for math is siginificantly higher than a perfect score for verbal.
