Food with high plant material, meaty foods will kill Mbuna.

I always found using any Spiralina coated flake food is a great staple food.  Even carnivores will still eat this and it's good for them too.  You can suppliment protein with a pellet.  Almost any brand is really fine, there are only fine tuned differences between them that maybe a zealot might like to blow out of proportion.
