What should i get a diamondback mountain bike or a cheaper mongoose from walmart?

the diamondback bike is about 200 and the mongoose is about 125

Depends on what you are looking for. I f you are just starting out on a bike I would go with the mongoose but if you are more serious I would go with a slightly more expensive bike. I found a redline for about 200 and I have had it for 2 years almost with no complaints. So I guess what I am trying to say is with a bike you pretty much get what you pay for. But don't go out and buy something outrageously over priced.

as long as you treat it well and maintain it nicely either should be fine if those are your only choices. you might want to also look in the paper in your town for used bikes that might be a little more upscale.

if you have to choose between the two, the diamond back is better.



but a better decision would be to spend $300 on a better brand,

I am going to pick up a used Diamondback tonight for $60 off craigs list.  Look around. I have to spend about 20 in gas, but I cant find a better bike for $80.  

Buy the cheap one if you have to now, but keep an eye out there are always good deals if you are willing to spend the time to look.

I'd get the diamondback bike rather than the mongoose. It is more expensive, but it would probably be better for you and it will last longer than a cheap bike you can get at walmart.

Bikes from wal-mart are total junk. I have one that was never worth a hoot even bran new. The chain would pop of and the pedal kept falling off no matter how hard you tightened it. The quality is very poor.

You think you save money with a wal-mart product but it will be so unreliable it isn't worth it. Not to mention the design is terrible. Half the time they are so unbalanced you can't even ride without handlebars. And if you do anything rough you will bend the wheels and maybe break the frame.

Spend more and get something worthwhile. Go to a pawn shop or second hand store and you can find a used bike of high quality for cheaper than a new piece of junk from wal-mart.
