  1. Id go with a sulcata tortoise.  They dont require the nasty water setup and arent tempermental like the monitor lizards can be.  I have 2 that roam my backyard year round and besides eating my grass all day everyday, they eat an assortment of green leaf veggies and the occasional strawberry.  So feeding is also easy, compared to monitor food which may have to be a live rodent or hatchling chic.  Thats just my opinion.  Sulcata tortoise.

  2. go with a green tree monitor or a croc monitor it depends on wat size u want

  3. Those reptiles are both very hard to care for. It depends on what kind of monitor your gonna get though.

If you were to get a monitor, I would suggest a savanah monitor, probably the most common type of monitor.

    Cons:

-need a very, VERY large enclosure about the size of a typical dining room table or a sofa

    -the monitor needs frequent feeding

    -becomes a VERY large reptile

    Pros:

-if cared for and handled properly will become very sociable

    -pretty neat looking creatures

If you were to go with a turtle, I would go with a red-eared slider

    Pros:

-a reptile mentioned for beginner keepers(most keepers)

    -comfortable around people

    Cons:

-also, need a medium-sized enclosure, preferabbly outside

  4. turtles because they are less agressive and can be handled better. plus you can get more than one!

  5. I'm no reptile genius but if you have any children at all then i would probably recommend the turtle. The guy that I buy my feeder mice from has a monitor and after seeing that thing there is no way I would want that around my(or any) children! On the other hand - if I was single, I might consider it. It is wicked awesome to see those things feed! Im not against monitors as pets but it's just my opinion!

  6. Hey i would get a turtle probably a soft shell or musk turtle they usually stay small.
