  1. Camry.

  2. honda accord and bargain down the price

    nissan sentra

    honda civic

    toyota corolla

look at motor trend magazine this month. they have a listing of new cars and prices

  3. The Jetta is great choice. My brother has one in dark grey and loves it. Though his is a TDi, I am sure the regular model is just as rewarding. The reason he got the TDi is because he can actually tow a boat with it. Anyway, if you don't want the Jetta, I am sure a 2007 Saab 9-3 would be a phenomenal choice. Though people remain somewhat reluctant towards Saab Reliability, it has greatly improved. Not to mention, it is seriously one of the safest cars on the road today. Since 2003, that car has maintained a "Gold Award" for IIHS Car Segment.

The S4 is a great car, I sell them and they please all of the owners. But, a V8 and a Teenager don't mix too well for insurance. Plus, i highly doubt you can get a Dealer Demo S4 for under $24,000. My Dealer has a base 2007 S4 Demo we are still trying to clear for $41,000. Maybe an A4, or perhaps an A3.

    Good Luck

  4. Well you could get a Subaru Impreza WRX Sti. Its really fast car and is a 5 speed. If safety is a main concern, try a volvo, they are known to be one of the safest in the world. You could also find a Civic Si Sedan for your price. Or a Mitsubishi Evolution. these are all fast cars that are verryyy cool. Your parents probably wont want you in these cars, so an alternative would be maybe a Nissan Pathfinder or Armada. Maybe if you like Mazdas, look at a Tribute or a CX-7. But if luxury and speed is your thing, you can always look into  AUDI. I hope I gave you a variety you can look at.

  5. Buy something like a late 90's Escort or Corolla. Anything more and your parents are spoiling you rotten. The saved 22,000 dollars of a '99 Escort over an '09 model year can go to repairs and college tuition.

If your curious, my first car was an '80 Chevette Scooter. No glovebox, cardboard door panelings, AM radio, 2 speed blower/heater, underpower engine, manual everything. Know what, it transported me and other individuals fine despite its Soviet-austere design. A used Corolla or other EPA compact would be so much better you'd never believe, in every way, yet you still feel the need to squawk about not getting an '09 model BMW or Mercedes.

If you want something better, ask for a late-model Japanese compact or subcompact. Corolla, Mazda 3, Yaris, Firt, Scions, .etc .etc.

  6. 24,000? Wow big budget for a first car.

Get a used Audi A4 if you want a german car that is more of a guys car.

If you want reliability, cant go wrong with Acura, Honda, Scion, or Toyota.

  7. Avoid small cars, their lack of safety isn't worth the slightly better gas mileage. You can put all the airbags in the world in a small car, but when your 2500 lbs Corolla gets run over by a 6200 lbs truck, I guarantee you will regret it (if you live through it). According to IIHS, you are twice as likely to die in small car than a mid-size.

Personally, I think the new Chevy Malibu's are pretty sharp for a mid-sized sedan, they are 4-dr, reasonably priced, and are available with a pretty powerful engine. Nissan Altima maybe too, but they lose their value pretty bad.

  8. fox body mustang

  9. a dodge nitro?

i always thought those would be a really cool guy car

and since they are more of an SUV the safety will probably be pretty good.

or a jeep wrangler..all my older guy cousins are getting them
