  1. Learning everything about the martial arts and learning it quickly don't really go together. It takes a lot of time --- years and years to really understand what you're doing and how it applies in different situations.

There are fast track routes that promise black belts after a year of training, but I would be very cautious of these.

As for your question, it really depends on 'why' you want to learn martial arts. Do you want something that is physically challenging? Something that might help you if you ever get into a dangerous situation? Or just something so that you can say: "Hey, I take martial arts."

If you're more along the 'something physically challenging' line, I'd recommend a martial art that incorporates sparring, katas (forms), kicking, and self defense. You want to be well balanced and learn a variety of things. Or you may want something that incorporates grappling or something related to that. I can't tell you what you should learn, but I can give you some suggestions. But in the end, you're going to have to figure this out yourself.

It also depends on what's available in your area. You may have something in mind that you want to do, but there's no schools like that in your area.

    Best of luck to you.

  2. There is no 'learn quickly'

If you want to be truly good at a martial art it's going to take months at least.  Depending on the martial art.

I'd start with judo or BJJ.  Very dynamic and fun martial arts.

Or if you want to throw knees and elbows then Muay Thai.  but be warned, the training and exercises for MT are brutal.

  3. If you want to learn it properly, it will probably take close to a decade.

If you also want to learn it well, it will take considerably longer than that!

  4. Sorry but if you want to be good @ it it takes year. Take that from a 12 year old second degree.

  5. If you want to learn how to defend yourself quickly, take self defense classes. Learning a martial art is a life committment.
