  2. Brand name or custom made is the only way to go. The better or more expensive the wood the longer it will last. Get a design you like. Tip and weight is personal preference.

  4. every cue works best for different people.  I prefer a heavy wooden cue, while some of my friends prefer a lighter graphite cue.  go to a place that sells cue and choose one that feels the right weight, comfort and consistancy.  Not judge by the price.  Good luck

  5. ashwood is pretty good and get a small tip, if you are playing 8 ball, have a cue that is skinny near the tip as it fits well on you're thumb
