  1. Your a little bit late in starting, but leeks, swede, spring or greyhound cabbage, Japanese onions and parsnips all come to mind.


  2. Have a look on marshalls seeds.co.uk/ Plenty to go at.

  3. You do not say if you are in the UK but assuming you are then it is a little late for sowing seed.

    You should be able to buy young plants of leeks and brassicas (cabbage family), onion sets will be available soon as well.  

    Sow seed of a green manure such as Winter Tares on any unused part of your allotment.  You will be able to dig this into the ground in spring and improve the fertility and structure of the soil.

  4. You can plant lots of brasicas like cabbage, onions, later on spet/oct you can put in a crop of broad beans. You could plant a green manure like field beans or alfalfa.  Good luck and happy munching!!
