  1. Ok, so I play the cello now, and I have been playing for 4 years now. It was by far the easiest to learn because it is more natural to hold, the bow just lays there on the strings and all you have to do is push and pull, and it will go in a straight line. When learning the violin it hurts you shoulder, your neck, and your wrist when starting out. (I know this because I just started playing the violin.)

And the cello is NOT hard to carry around, usually the hard cases have wheels. =P So its quite easy.

  2. violin. It's easier to carry around with you. I find the bowing to be much easier for a beginner. also, if you learn to play violin now, since it plays the main melody, you will develop a good ear for music. cello plays harmony.

  3. ok.

if your under about 5 ft 3 or so, and have small hands (handspan less than around 6 inches), go with violin.

then you won't have issues carrying around the cello case.

cello is an easier 1st stringed bowed instrument, because it is a slightly more natural position....

violins are easier to move around, and violinists don't have to carry around a special stool.

violins also get most of the melodies in orchestra.

theres also 2 million violinists (not literally... but an insane amount.)

so theres more competition for orchestra seats.

    less cellists...

i suggest going to a music store and playing a violin and a cello....

  4. the sound of the instrument is your best decision maker.

    plus and minus

Cellos are harder to carry around.

You can usually sound OK on a cello after a very short time.

Violins are in a hard case and can be carried easily on the bus etc.

Violins are awkward to hold at first.

There are a lot more violin players than Cello players.

    Hope this helped

    You should enjoy either one.

  5. I played cello when I was young because all the others were playing violin so I wanted to do something different. Now I wish I had chosen the violin anyway.  Violins are definitely easier to carry around.

  6. Violin.
