What should i play for the school band?

He had us try out instruments and i i dont want to play tuba or clarinet (my sister plays clarinet) iwas good at saxophone but im not really wanting to play it. Percussion no way jose i stunk trumbone i was good at but all the boys want to play it and flute and trumpet are my 2 picks really no one wants to play flute and i was good at both. im short and im a girl (:

FLUTE;

its cute to play, and makes chirping, fluttering, high pitches noises,

you will get to carry out the melodies in many songs too...

&+ its not overbearing for your size &+ is very "girlie"

And if you get good enough you can switch over to the piccolo later which is even smaller high pitched and cute

not trumpet difficulty using on 3 keys, changing valves, and facial expressions to change tones...

Play the Flute! Once you get the postion of the mouth right, its really easy to learn. Also, your don't really have to change your fingers too much (in the begining) I think that you will really enjoy it. I think trumpet would be harder (tho iv never played it) because you have to change the position of your mouth alot, and you have to make different combinations of pressing valves and moving your mouth. I think with the Flute it will be much easier much faster to get the pitch right. Good luck with whatever you choose!

My brother plays the clarinet, and when I was in the sixth grade, I was one of the only two girl trumpet players.  My first choice was the flute, but I could barely make a sound on it when we did our mouthpiece tests.  Go with the one that you were able to make the best sound on and that you have a positive attitude towards... who cares if no one else wants to play it or if it's just boys who are playing it?  All that matters is that you're playing an instrument that you know you can make a sound on and that you'll be willing to take home and practice.

If I were you, and I was able to make a sound on the flute and the trumpet, I'd go with the flute just because it's easier to carry around.

I am short and I'm a girl we have something in common.  We can have something else in common if you decide to play the flute.  The flute is a beautiful instrument that makes a wonderful sound.  And since not everyone like you said wants to play it, this will be your time to shine!  And hey if you get tired of it you can always play another instrument.  That's the beauty of it you have choices, so do what makes you happy! well i was in band for 7 years and i played clarinet, but since u don't want to play that i would suggest the flute, it is a very girly instrument, and its just very classy! trumpets are always loud and obnoxious but the flute has a very petete but beautiful sound! i would go for the FLUTE! trust  me and if you plan on doing high school band some make u march and u will be very pleased carrying the flute being that its the lightest and the trumpet is quite heavy...expecially the way you have to hold it!

If your short play the flute my sister is really short and is in grade 12 and she plyed the flute and it worked really well with her height :)

Flute.  It's also light and easy to carry.  I played trombone and hated toting the thing around.  Plus, your flute will fit in your locker.
