  1. All tvs are different.  You'll need a test picture to calibrate your TV properly.  If your tv has presets as well you'll want at least one preset for regular TV and one for movies.  Check out the link below for a good dvd to adjust everything with your TV/stereo.

  2. Most TV designs have optimum performance when all controls are mid way ! this enables you to adjust either up or down !!

Contrast is the only real exception and this wants to be set about 95% .

The bottom line is however that it is your TV and you should set the picture so that you like it !!!

    Cheers Pete

  3. If you dont care about the longevity (life) of your lcd/plasma monitor setting all to 100 will give you the best settings.

However, there are some factors that play into setting all to 100 to give you the best picture as possible. When you bought your monitor they will give you a contrast ratio. This basically will tell you whether or not that when viewing your monitor you will be able to read black/white text more easily.

I always perfer to have my brightness set to 100 but in my old CRT monitors (the big heavy ones that looked like tvs) the life of the monitor did not last long and it began to get fuzzy and distorted. So i then had to lower brightness to around 80 and set contrast down to around 80 as well.

Most manufacturer defaults are ok, if you are wanting to keep it around a little longer i would set it all to 90 you wont notice too much of a difference. It wont hurt to bump up your brightness every once in a while in the dark if your watching a movie or something.
