  1. I keep a little bag of cheap toys in my closet, I buy little cars and stuffed things and books and plastic animals whenever I see them on sale for $1 and keep them up on a shelf where the kids can't find it.

Then when we have something to do where I want to keep them occupied I grab a couple of things out of the closet and stuff them in my bag and give them to the kids when they start getting antsy.

I also bring s bag of cookies or pretzels or something for them to eat, but if you're going into stores you might not want to do that since you tend to leave a trail of crumbs.

Going anywhere with twins can be tricky because they start harassing each other when they get bored so even if one is doing ok the other one might start poking at them and then you have *two* unhappy campers.

  2. If your really shopping, expecting to try on clothing and roam from store to store for several hours then I'd say reschedule the day and find someone to watch them. You can't expect two toddlers to sit in a stroller and entertain themselves for hours on end. If your going to a few stores and are willing to try them on at home and return if necessary then, try to go during nap time, bring toys, books and snacks to keep them occupied in the stroller, make sure to plan breaks for running around. Look for the fountains and ride areas that usually exist in every mall and head there during those times. Nothings better than watching water spray around at that age, we take our three (including twins) once a week to a mall to watch the fountains, ride a carousel and run around in the air conditioning (which we lack at home). Nice weekday evening outing for a family with multiple toddlers.

  3. Take Pacifiers (we call them Nooneys), Cup of Juice,Baby wipes, Lollipops, and bag of cookies. It works.

  4. My twins always took a small toy with them and my son always had his dummy, always have a drink handy too !

  5. If your mall has these as an option, rent a double car stroller... I just went to the mall with my son and my friend's son (ages 15 and 19 months) who are usually NOT happy at ALL while shopping... and we didn't hear a peep out of them for four hours.  It is worth the five bucks or whatever they charge you.  (Our mall charged us nothing, but we live in a military town... maybe that's why?)

Anyway, the boys got a kick out of the steering wheels and LOVED feeling in charge. :)  It was wonderful.  Even if you have little girls, chances are, they'll love "driving" the car just like Mommy/Daddy.

Also, I brought along little snack cups and juice, of course, so they could snack on the go.  And we stopped for lunch about halfway through.  At the end of the trip, they each got to have a cookie (and let them know why -- they were SO VERY WELL BEHAVED).  I know you're not supposed to reward with food... but maybe having a sweet treat will encourage them to behave well next time too. ;)

  6. I keep suckers in my purse or as soon as you get to the store get them a dollar toy that way its cheap but it's new to them plus if they throw it or drop it...it was only a dollar...also my daughter loves headphones with music on....only problem is she sings really loud! lol  Good luck i know how outings can be crazy!! lol

  7. Well, an obvious answer is that if they get bored easily, don't take them if you think that will be a problem. Just hire a babysitter. If that isn't an option, then try to occupy them your best with toys, or constantly interacting with them to keep you occupied.
