What should i use as bait?

i am going fishing over by catalina island for yellow tail, sand bass,tuna, etc. should i use the live bait they give you on the boat or a lure. if a lure what kind? also would shrimp or anything like that work.

shrimp would be perfect.  or maybe shad.

use anchovies or squid i saw a kid catch a huge tuna using anchovies

Sounds like a charter fishing trip.There is probably no one on yahoo answers can give you a matter of fact answer on this ,because there are so many variables. For instance what bait are the yellow tail after in the area at the moment you are fishing.Trust your Pro on the boat .He was there yesterday . That is his job to know the hot bite and bait of the moment.
