  1. shiny wall paint looks tacky

  2. Your best bet, is to apply a clear coat of Minwax "PolyCrylic" in the sheen level you need.   It is fast drying, and easy to apply with a brush or roller.   It is available at Home Depot

  3. If you REALLY want glossy walls you should have used a High Gloss finish paint.  Eggshell, Satin etc., give a very subtle "shimmer" where as a high gloss gives you the shine you are looking for.

I wouldn't personally recommend a glossy finish on walls, it's quite dated, shows up every imperfection on the wall and can look quite garish.  I would opt for a satin finish - it's somewhere in between a matte and a gloss.  Easy to clean and tastefully shimmering.
