See, I have my period. It's kinda heavy, so I have to wear maxi pads, but they feel like granny panties!! (no offense!!). I really want to wear the other kind but they are too thin, so I leak. i mean, i know the consequences of not wearing the maxi pads, but i really hate them and plus i only wear them at night, just to be safe. Also, I know you're trying to help, but please don't recommend tampons because I don't think my mom would approve at all and please dont recommend menstrual cups because I think they discontinued at my local Pathmark. Just, please recommend a pad that isn't too bulky for me, but isn't too thin!!

  1. i have a heavy flow too...and hate the feeling your wearing a nappy! ive tried litterally every one there is and there still isnt an ideal one..but the best one i have found is kotex, im not sure what theyre called but they are really thin with wings. You have to change them about every 3 hours but its better than tht feeling. My mum isnt keen on buying me tampons...i said to her can i have some tampons please to go swimming and that was an excuse but she came back with 1...i was like...okaaay lol

  2. "Always" Regular...

    Change often.

  3. Your mom's approval isn't required for you to use tampons.

The ones with plastic applicators *definitely* make things easier for girls who've never used tampons before... but once you know how, anything that's comfortable to wear will be easy to insert.

Helpful advice (beyond the semi-useless package directions)? Yeah... just three things:

    1) Aim the tampon more towards your back than upwards... your v****a actually goes *back* for more than half of its length, not just up... and push it in as far as the applicator will go while you're still holding the end of it.

    2) It'll be easier to do the first time if things are slippery "down there", so don't wipe away any blood and stuff until you've got the tampon in place. If there's very little blood there, just smear a couple of drops of saliva on the tip of the tampon (or its applicator if it has one) and it'll make things a lot more comfortable.

    3) Relaxation is important. If relaxing isn't easy for you, try pushing just a little bit as if you're trying to p**p or pee... your pelvic muscles will relax a bit and that will help a *lot*.

There's an OK video instruction about it at
