That's only about a 3 hour flight. If it's cold in NJ wear pants and take shorts in your carry on but make sure you're comfortable and bring something to read, there may not be a movie on a short flight like that. Take a dry snack too, like chips or peanuts.

Well, it's going to be much colder in New Jersey than it will be in Florida, but you want to be comfortable in both temperatures, so my advice can be summed up in one word; layering. I would wear some nice sweatpants that you are really comfortable in (after all, you will be on a plane for awhile!) and then a t-shirt or tank top and a coat/ hoodie/ jacket over that. And if you're really cold natured, you could always bring along gloves and hats and stuff (but be sure its fairly easy to take off for security). That way, once you get to Florida, you can take off the coat/hoodie/jacket and whatever other warm things you are wearing and just be in the sweatpants and shirt.
