  1. A nice summer dress, or skirt and top is fine. The Federal Jury is better than the state, or so I feel. They treat you much nicer. You go in and register with the clerk, there's a short video on jury duty protocol, then you sit around and wait to be called. Usually once court starts they will call out a group of people and the selection process begins. If they get their allotted amount of people before getting to you, you go back to the waiting room. If at the end of the day you are not called then you go home. I was called for a 2 week period. I went the first day and then had to call in each night to see if I was needed to return, which did not happen. It really is interesting once everything begins. Take plenty of singles for the vending machines, something to read or music. There are televisions to watch and a cafeteria to go to at lunchtime. I can't remember if I got my jury pay before leaving court. If you don't it will be mailed to you. You get paid about $20.00 for the day. Good luck and have fun.

  2. Track suit and joggers

  3. sounds like you will have loads of fun dont worry about it...

  4. Casual Wear To Business Wear

  5. Business casual.

  6. There isn't a dress code for Jury Duty. However, I believe dressing in an appropriate manner shows respect for our juridical system. You are willing to do your civil duty by serving jury duty which many Americans try to avoid. In the overall scheme of things, that is what is most important.

However, regarding advise on how to dress, if your gauchos aren't denim, I would wear those but your jeans are OK (as long as the don't have holes or aren't hemmed!). Sandals are OK but I wouldn't wear super casual flip flops.

Don't wear overly tight jeans, a t-shirt with any logo that might be considered offensive or a provocative shirt.

Wear a nice shirt with your gauchos or jeans and bring a sweater or jacket because government buildings can be very cold when they are air-conditioned.

  7. such a long QUESTION so no ANSWER

  8. These are all really good answers but let me give you an example of what I saw in a court room once.  This chick comes in in high spikes, a spaghetti strap red dress and her boyfriend had a biker's jacket ensemble going!  Most of us were in simple street clothes or casual business attire.  What do you think?

Basically, you'll want comfortable shoes, nothing too hot, don't know how the temp will be, take a jacket so you can remove it if it gets hot, and just use common sense.

If you have a nice pair of jeans and a decent shirt with a blazer, that should suffice. But I still wouldn't wear flip-flops.  Call the clerk and ask if it would be ok to wear sandals and let them tell you.  That's what I'd do.

  9. maybe if you post some pics of yourself we can better decide, otherwise, a suit

  10. Good clean clothes is all you need. Suggestion: like any jury duty, there will be a lot of dead time waiting, take a couple books and a deck of cards.
