What should i wear to italy this summer? what are people currently wearing?

I havent visited my family in Italy since like 5 years ago... im going this summer what should i pack to wear over there?

I DISAGREE WITH ALEX O THE ITALIAN PEOPLE ACCESSORISE SO WELL HANDBAGS ETC SHOES & THE OLDER ITALIAN MEN HAVE A VERY CERTAIN SOMETHING THEY JUST DONT SEEM TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE TRIED TOO HARD OF COURSE SOME LOOK A REAL MESS BUT LOTS LOOK VERY CHIC ALL SAID YOU SHOULD BE YOURSELF GO FOR TASTEFULLY UNDERSTATED CLASSY IT WORKS EVERY TIME

Italy is very hot in the summer. the less you wear, the better it is

You should wear what you feel comfortable in and what you normally wear in a hot summer. Don't change your dress sense when you travel.

Many Italians are unfashionable if that's what you're worried about.

If you really do want to check out trends, go to http://www.style.com/ - well-dressed Americans will be considered well-dressed in Italy and vica versa because the style is not that different.

When I went to Italy, the only thing I noticed that was different is that you won't see many shorts on the Italians.

If you want to avoid sticking out:

- NO SHORTS. Doesn't matter whether you are male or female - NOBODY wears shorts, ever [obviously, skirts, the shorter the better, are ok]

- skip the sneakers, except Puma speed cats and sneakers that look like that (unless you are going to the gym)

- ditto for college T-shirts/sweat shirts

That said, anything else goes. Jeans are standard. With just a pair of jeans, a blouse and some great shoes and accessories you will blend right in

- the color khaki isn't known in Europe, nor are khaki pants
