i don't have a gs suit (spandex), my first race is tomorrow, and i was thinking of wearing some windbreaker snow pants (very thin, just a fitted layer of waterproof nylon) over my thermals, and a thin fitted jacket (under my bib). will this be okay?

  1. You will be fine. Dress for warmth.

Some racers feel faster in their spandex. Some are faster in their spandex. Some are faster without spandex.

If abilities are equal, then the spandex may win.

  2. You can get by in your snowpants and a well fitting fleece.

I raced in HS...nothing where I needed a speed suit...and I'd still beat the few idiots in the spandex.

  3. under armor...

  4. First of all, I'm jealous. My first race isn't until mid-January. Secondly, you'll be fine. Gs suits don't make much of a difference until you're at the level where a tenth of a second makes a difference. Depending on the weather (and how cold you want to be on the lift) you may not need your windbreaker. Last year I just wore two thermal shirts, a windproof vest and my bib.
