  1. I would not suggest the Jeans.  How ever Khaki Pants would work.  Good Luck.

  2. Jeans and a nice top are truthfully not appropriate for job hunting.  Jeans are out of the question all together.  At least put on a pair of nice khakis or dress slacks with a nice top.  The thing to remember when applying for any job from McDonald's to a Corporate job is that the first impression is always a lasting impression.  Make sure that your clothes fit properly and are neat and clean, your hair is presentable and you put your best foot forward.  The job market is tight right now and putting your best foot forward in the beginning can give you the extra something that can get you the job over an average Joe.  Smile, be polite and professional!!!  Good luck!!!

  3. Dress nice!

Honestly, the nicer you're dressed, the more likely you are to get a call...

Even when I just used to work in limited too, we had people come in dressed in just jeans and a t-shirt and my manager would comment to me about how people could at least dress up a little if they really want a job...  she always seemed to call back the ones who came in dressed up a bit more first.

At my current place of work (a daycare).. most people come in dressed business-casual, which is great and my boss LOVES it.. even though my boss and i and other employees mostly just wear jeans.. it just shows that they actually care about getting this job and it's not just like "ok, i'll go in and check on this on my way to the park.." or something.

  4. What job are you applying for?  You want to dress slightly nicer than what is generally worn in the company.  This could mean you'd need a nice business suit for most corporate jobs.  Jeans with a nice top would be fine for retail, amusement park, or food.

Unless you've been told differently (like my job is very relaxed and laid back--we tell interviewees to wear jeans) at least go business casual, like black dress pants and a nice shirt (preferably button up) if it is any job that is not min wage.

If you can, scope it out before hand.  If it's a restaurant, go in and see what the waitresses are wearing.  If it's a company that you can't go in and see (or they wear uniforms), call and ask the receptionist what to wear.  She won't mind advising you.

Most importantly you want to be comfortable in what you wear.  If you never wear a business suit, don't.  Pulling at a tie the whole time or nearly breaking your ankle on heels for the first time is not going to land you the job.
