I got a mini lop yesterday, and i've decided that i want her to sleep in my room with me during the night as it is too cold outside. What should i put her in when shes i my room? She's not yet toilet trained..but im hoping to start that soon, she also keeps hiding under my bed for hours and wont come out. So i want something that she can't get out of, yet is comfortable for her. thanks

  1. cat or mini dog carriers, u can easily put them into, and it stays warm...please remember bunnies can chew through a lot of stuff tho....

and not to mention, they LOVE to move around!, ever wonder why the energizer commercials feature bunnies? theyre not lying! lol

as for not coming out from under the bed, tempt her with food, or simply blokk the space under the bed,

    GOOD LUCK BUNNY-PROOFING UR ROOM!!!

  2. Hello a cage !? , if u leave her out shes just gunna want to hop around , bunnies due tend to move around alot , unless shes one of those lazy one that just like to stay in one spot, clean themsleves and lie down. But anyhow bunnies are not meant to sleep with people , just put her in a cage at night so you know where she is and u dont have ot worry about her going around and possibly peeing the floor (which by the way staines) . Or another idea is just buying her a bed like a dogs one and placing puppie pads on the floor , u can also try that . But i can tell u she might not sleep in the same spot if she on the bed with u , she could hop on top of u and stuff .

  3. I think you should just keep your rabbit inside, the majority of the time. What if a predator came up to the cage and frightened the rabbit, they can actually die of shock, and there have been way too many cases of outdoor rabbits dying of hypothermia or of a heat stroke. Rabbits live longer, happier lives indoors. (But this doesn't mean you can't take your bunny outside for an hour or two a day for some play time, the best time to do this is in the early morning or evening because they are most active at these times and it shouldn't be too hot or too cold.)

First you need to establish a bond between you and your bunny, set up a cage indoors, with toys and a litter box, usually rabbits will pee in one corner of the cage, just move the litter box to that corner and she will eventually get the hang of it. You can also put timothy hay in the litter box to encourage her to jump in. Make sure you aren't using cedar/wood shavings or cat litter because that can lead to upper respiratory problems (which can be deadly) Litters like Carefresh and Yesterdays news should work best.

She's probably hiding under your bed because she is scared, to her she's just been "bunnynapped" and she is probably afraid you or something else wants to eat her, as rabbits are prey animals.

Mini lops are wonderful pets, I just purchased one of my own 4 days ago and he is absolutely a sweetie. Start spending A LOT of times with the rabbit, set her on your bed or couch, and just sit with her, allow her to approach you and realize that you aren't so bad. Get to know her, be calm and gentle, she'll come around, because rabbits are social animals believe it or not, and love attention when they don't feel threatened.

The website rabbitsonline.net is really helpful with answering practically any rabbit questions you may have- just sign up and introduce yourself and your bunny in the Introductions part of the forum. Everyone there is really nice and glad to help.

I hope you and your bunny become good friends! best wishes!
