What should my daughter do next time one of her X-box friends threatens suicide?

I did not know about this till it had already happened but one of my daughter's x-box friends threatened to commit suicide. She talked him out of it. He did not live anywhere near us so I am not sure 911 would have been a good idea. What should she do next time something like this happens?

Wow that's a tough one... totally anonymous, what do you do?

I'd wonder if someone who would do that really just wants some attention... I don't mean that in a bad way, but that they NEED some attention. People who really want to commit suicide usually do.

So, that said, perhaps advise her (as she obviously did) to express that she cares for the person and is concerned for them and ask them flat out if she can have someone call them, and then try to get a phone number/address/etc?

But she talked him out of it, so that's great. I guess she will have to know she did the best she could, and if it had not worked out that way, it would not have been her fault at all.

Contact the authorities . Microsoft will have the IP address of his username. does your daughter have that? tell that to the police, and they will be able to track it.
