What should nadal do to counter the tactics of full eastern or continental gripped players on grass/hardcourts

Full eastern or continental gripped players like federer and djokovic used to flatten their shots when they are playing against nadal on grass and hard courts which give them an advantage over full western gripped player like nadal.

Play closer to the baseline. I think Nadal is fast enough to retrieve most of those rocket forehands. And be more aggressive as to not let his opponents dictate the points.
