Possible border crossings include Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico, and clearly Nicaragua. My boyfriend is making this trip alone on motorcycle in a few months, and the border crossings are the parts he is most concerned about.

  1. He should be concerned about being kidnapped and robbed. there's a show on the Discovery channel called 'locked up abroad' and theses are true stories and there was a story about a guy riding his motorcycle through Mexico way down south and he was locked up for years, for no reason. He's crazy, I'd take a plane if I was him.

  2. Rosy is right. Embassy takes forever sometimes. They may ask your bf alot of questions and why he wants to go into the country.

I recommend for him to be really careful with streets; tell him to mainly stay in hwy or major streets. Not to take short cuts or just because they told him to take certain roads.

I'm pretty sure its going to be so much fun !!

  3. My son did this trip but he stopped at Costa Rica.  You want all the normal car registration papers, and your required documents for yourself.  He said that patience is the key to the entire process.  It can take all day to get through but if one knows and accepts that it could take all day then that seemed to make it easier.  They aren't just picking on you they're treating everybody in this manner.
