At a regular medical hospital a patient went into the ER for hemophilia,& then the doctor says that they are too weak to take care of them self , & a psych ward is probably the best place for you" He says to the patient, to be put in a psych ward for being gravely disabled & unable to care for yourself does that mean that if you become anemic and can no longer walk or stand or do your own laundry , shopping etc that you will be put in a psych ward, and never treated for your anemia? That you might be pumped full of feel good drugs instead of transfused medically?

If it's due to a physical reason & the doctors are trying to put someone into a psych ward or nut house is that really crazy?

Is that what unable to care for yourself, gravely disabled means? Because thats what the doctor said and it's all written in the medical records, what he was trying to do, this hemophiliac person had to leave the hospital Against medical advise to escape his intentions & got VERY sick at home.

  1. Let's begin with one word HiPPA.

It looks like you heard part of the story and is trying to post it here to have others figure out the rest of it for you.  People aren't just lapse-a-daisly put into the psych ward by a doctor.  If he needed to be admitted he needed to be admitted.

  2. Well, as I understand it, hemophilia is a blood clotting disorder, not anemia.  So if the person came in severly anemic, that would mean that they were not taking their meds and getting to the hospital when they needed to because of the bleeding.  That tells me that they either are not taking care of themselves at all, or the person is in an abusive situation, and yes, depedning on what the circumstances are, that could warrant a psych admin.  Not taking the proper meds, or not getting to the hospital when they needed to could be looked at as a suicide attempt.

Now, as someone else has said, there is a lot more to this story than what is being told.  Someone who has hemophilia would have a good relationship with a hemotologist, because they need constant care and monitoring of their condition.  And people arent just given psych admits for no reason.  The psych departments are usually crowded and over run.  They are not gonna take up a bed for someone who doesnt need to be there.
