  1. Only the top three teams from the East and West play, so what are you talking about?!

Yayuh ... Roughriders 2007 Grey Cup Champions!!!!!!!

  2. I would put a team in Ottawa and a team out East in either Quebec City or Halifax where there would be good fan support. I would move Winnipeg back to the West. This would give 10 teams, 5 in the East and 5 in the West. I then would have 6 make the playoffs, which makes for a good number.

  3. theres nothing they can do....theres only 8 teams

  4. Top two in each division play in the division finals, winners go to the Grey Cup

  5. While there have been many creative proposals here, I don't see this as a problem that needs fixing.  The CFL is a nine-team league, and you can't have a playoff system without most of the teams being involved.  To cut back on teams in the postseason would mean that there'd just be a championship game, and I feel that would be a step in the WRONG direction.

  6. Who watches the CFL anyway?

  7. There are 8 teams; 6 make the playoffs.  Top 2 get a bye.  2nd place in each division get the 1st round home advantage.  Next 2 highest finishing teams over-all get the 1st round visiting team slots.

    Possibilities:

    - Reg season eliminates 6 teams: No playoffs; top team from East and West play for Grey Cup

    -  Reg season eliminates 6 teams: No playoffs, scrap East and West divisions, balance the schedule, top 2 over-all play for the Grey Cup

    - Reg season eliminates 4 teams: Scrap East and West divisions, balance the schedule, 1 hosts 4 and 2 hosts 3 in first round, winners play for the Grey Cup

    - Reg season eliminates 4 teams: Eliminate the bye (eliminate the first round) keep the East-West rivalry, 1 hosts 2 in each conference and winners player for the Grey Cup

    - Add two teams, Quebec City and Ottawa, put Winnipeg back in the West.  Reg season eliminates 4 teams. Eliminate the cross-over for three years to give the 2 new teams a chance of making the play-offs and building a fan base, then return to a cross-over format.  This could lead to 4 of the 5 Western teams making playoffs, and only 2 from the East.

I like the last one most.

Edit: JCam - it seems that "tom" had a stroke last week (no joke - check out his latest hockey question)

Edit: JCam - Yeah.  I switched back to kingstonsean.

  8. Just have the #1 team from the East play the #1 team from the West for the Grey Cup.  That would make for a pretty short playoff season.

Or, get rid of the divisions, have the #1 overall team get a berth in the Grey Cup, while the #2 and #3 teams play to see who also makes it.

Just a random suggestion or two for your enjoyment.

  9. Change to a one division league with the top 4 teams making the playoffs.

  10. Tax every Canadian $8 dollars and give the new thirty million dollars to each team so they wouldn't need the extra playoff game to survive. Expand the league to 4 more cities whether they could support them or not and raise the taxes to support them. Doesn't this make sense to you? Either that just wait another few years until Global Warming takes over and all the Americans will moved to Canada because it's too hot in Texas (it is anyway but they don't realize it yet) Bringing all their money and the CFL will take over the NFL and peace will rule.

  11. you can't fix whats not broken.  lol :)

  12. thats not even a good question...its good as it is now till they get more teams in

its good enough that the top 2 teams make it in, what else do you want....its been the playoff format for over 90 years, why change it up now.

Chris, your idea would be total idiocy.....that changes the entire format and its not totally fair...you have to let 6 teams in or its really not a true Grey cup.

and its not fair to the team who finishes first either.  Good Gyrl is right, stop complaining just cuz your team screwed up in the semi final.

  13. They need to expand thats all.

A team in Vancouver would be nice unless the lions are from Vancouver.

Maybe a team in Nova Scotia another team in Ontario like Ottawa or maybe Mississauga.

  14. Here is my solution --- Have the CFL expand to ten teams by adding teams in Ottawa and Halifax or Quebec City, move the Bombers back to the West and have three teams from the East   three teams from the West make the playoffs with the top team from each division having a bye to the Division Finals while eliminating the crossover as it does not make any sense.

tomjc43, that is the most confusing answer I have ever seen.

Edit: les Canadiens sont la /aka ksean - oh god! I do not even understand that question at all. BTW, were you under a different name before?

    Edit: Thought so.

Edit: Numb O - the B.C. Lions are based in Vancouver. Where did you think they were based? Victoria?
