Hi I am Dhoni. I just want to know what you, the fans, think the composition of the Indian team should be once these 4 legends retire. With Dada and Rahul already out of the ODI team, we have been able to bring in some young players like Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma into the side. So, we are already looking towards the future. I was very particular about what guys I wanted in the side. I had a very clear vision that we needed to field really well.

On another note, we won our match against Bangladesh today. It is good to see Raina getting another century. He has a very bright future.

So back to the question, What should the Indian test team look like once Sachin, Rahul, Dada, and Laxman retire?

  1. Im not to worried about the Indian batting department after the departure of the fab four, some one may emerge to better even Sachin's record, just as Sachin emerged to better Sunny Gavaskar's record. They may not only better Sachin's record but they might jst be a better player than him. Im not saying that sachin's not a superb cricketer, but we shouldn't get so upset about his departure, and what is going to happen afterwards.

Look at the ODI team, all of Dhoni's critics were saying that india was going to lose because dada, dravid and laxman were dropped. but we came out alright, and now even without sachin in the Asia cup, we are doing quite well.

ALSO! there is one person you left out, Anil Kumble. One of the best legspinners the world has ever seen, he will soon retire along with sachin, dada, laxman and dravid. BUT! the future of indian spin bowling is in VERY safe hands, with the likes of Piyush Chawla, and Ohja emerging, and some people may not like it, but as long as we have Harbhajan in our spin department we are quite well set, he may be a hothead, but he knows how to turn a bowl pretty well.(< now please guys don't start a fight over my harbhjan comment kk.)

In my opinion the Indian cricket team after the departure of the four people mentioned above should be something like this:

    1) G.Gambhir/Asokandar

    2) V.Sehwag

    3) Suresh Raina/Manoj Tiwari

    4) Rohit Sharma

    5) Yuvraj Singh (vc)

    6) I.K. Pathan/Y.K. Pathan

    7) M.S Dhoni*+/D.Karthik*

    8) Z. Khan

    9) R.P. Singh/S.Sreesanth/M.Gony/

    10) I. Sharma/P. Kumar

    11) Piyush Chawla/H. Singh/Ramesh Powar/M.Karthik

  2. There is no dearth of players in India and the vacancies will be suitably filled.

  3. The team will look like a human being without a backbone..........

    a world without Oxygen..............

  4. Dear Mr Dhoni,

You have approached the right person for advice. To answer your question:

"So back to the question, What should the Indian test team look like once Sachin, Rahul, Dada, and Laxman retire?"

I think the Indian team should look like the current ODI side playing in Pakistan for Asia cup.

    Rehman of Multan

  5. It will look just like the ODI team or the t20 team.

  6. It will look different but not any weaker without all Sachin, Dravid,Ganguli, and Laxman. With the inclusion of Sharma, Raina, Ghambhir, Kaif, Y.Pathan india will be better in the fielding department and score a lot faster than before. Looking forward to it in fact.

  7. Hey Dhoni ... If you really are Dhoni... um aren't you supposed to be worrying about the asia cup right now, rather than worrying about the tests... btw um Dhoni? ... how is deepika???

  8. LOL, another indian deluded fan.

India will definetly miss the fab 4 dearly. I mean how can replace great batsmen like that all at one go, inparticular one of the worlds best batsmen in Dravid and the Second best batsmen ever in Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkars, technique is 99.5% perfection personified. And his stroke play and array of strokes is unbelievable. We will miss is Immacualt technique and temparement. He plays the straight drives and cover drives the best, both of the front foot and back foot, and his cutting is magical. He has teh most centuries, and will be the leading run scorer as well. Sachin is capable of playing any innings, however sooner or later he will get on top of the bowling, and will start toying with them, like the way he did with shane warne. this Legandary man is the best overall cricket player ever if you combine test and one dayers. To prove his greatness he is going to be the first indian to get a honary knighthood from the queen.

Rahul Dravid is probaly the hardest batsmen to dislodge ever, He just doesnt ever give his wicket away. early on in his innings it takes a brilliant ball to get rid of him, when Dravid is settled it takes a Cracker of dielivery to get rid of him. He has all the shots in the book, and plays the straight drives and pull shot brilliantly. He is brlliant on the onside, and is divine on the offside, with his brilliant cut and square cuts, hes even followed teh trends of Sachin and Sehwag in upper Cutting. hes an complete batsmen, with one of the best techniques ever. He has an average of 77 when india wins a test match and therefore is not only indias biggest match winner, he is also the second biggest match winner in the world after Donald Bradmen. He has the most Test 100 partnerships, showing his commitment and being the best team player ever. He also has the second highest ever away average of 61, after Bradmen. He was the fastest batsmen to reach 9000 runs, in the history of the game. He is a gritty player, who is one of the best players in the world.

Ganguly revolutuinised the spirit of indian cricket. He made the team more aggressive, and is the most successful indian capatin ever. His timing is a natural gift from god, and he is the god of the offside. he is a very aggresive batsmen, and really attacks the spinners, he murders the left arm spinners. Brilliant player of spin. His aggression and fight, will be missed. Indias best ever left hander.

Laxman, is very very special. He tormented the aussies on countless times, with his graceful flicks, lovely on drives and cover drives. Plays short bowling very good, with the most elegant fashion of pulling. he has a great temparement, and is one of the best players in the world when the chips are down, and on difficult tracks. His wristy flicks are divine, and special.

agressive successful one day batsmen like Dhoni and Yuvraj have done badly at the test level, and there techniques, especially dhonis, has been there down fall.

None of the young indian batsmen are near the techniqual expertise of Sachin and Dravid, and therefore would struggle against quality bowlers, like Brett lee. The pressure and reliance on Sehwag will be huge, and he will have to curve his batting agression. There is no doubt the batting is going to take a huge slide.
