What should the charges be, for this grown woman, who caused a little girl to hang herself?

A little girl 13 years old, was terrorized on Myspace by who she thought was a 16 year old boy. Instead it was a grown woman with a fake myspace account, pretending like she was a young boy. And even more, this woman was a neighbor, and even worse, this neighbor knew that the child had problems emotionally. What should these charges be against this woman?

In the UK that would be classed as assisted suicide, which carries the same sentence as murder depending on how severe the judge decides the case is, whether or not she would get convicted would depend on the level of evidence, and its most likely that the jury would find her guilty.

If this is a USA case I am unsure, as the laws vary a little there.

At worst...charges of harassment, and only if it can be proven.

Look, people insult each other every day, especially in my state...it's very unfriendly.  If somebody kills him/herself, how many people should go to prison then?  Everybody who insulted that person?  And how many are there?  How many contributed?  How many years ago did it start?  I hope you can see the problem here.

The allegation is that the woman said to the girl..."the world is better off without you."  Then ... did the girl commit murder by killing herself?  Who actually committed murder?  Who did the actual crime?  Yes, people easily forget that suicide is also murder.   We don't want to look at it this way because we see a sweet young girl in the photos.

The truth is clear, but people are letting their emotions cloud clear thinking on this, so people would like to sentence this mother (or whomever is actually giving insults) for 20 years.

Finally, watch.  Someone will help prove my point with thumbs downs and insults at me.  What if all those thumbs downs make me sad and I off myself?  Should Yahoo! Answers assist a witch hunt for everyone who clicked the thumbs down icon?  No, because I'm a bad person, so it's different, right?  Or because I'm not a sweet young girl according to my Avatar and screen name.   Get it?

Really...clear thinking/wisdom will be your friend for life if you let it.

Murder one for insults?  Then pretty much everyone on this planet deserves a 20-year sentence.

Remember when kids back in the 70s and 80s supposedly commited suicide because of listening to lurid and pscychotic lyrics from Heavy Metal rock music?

None of the bands (including Ozzy Ozbourne) were ultimately found liable.

Suicide is by definition, suicide.  You can't force or coerce someone to commit suicide, otherwise, it's no longer suicide.

If the woman didn't have a hand in the death, she will not be found criminally nor civilly liable.

Second degree murder.  n. a non-premeditated killing, resulting from an assault in which death of the victim was a distinct possibility.

I say the assult comes in the form of abuse online from the woman, and knowing the child had emotional problems it could be foreseeable that suicide could result.  My opinion.

I know she could get charged with harrassment.  But if the girl killed herself I am not sure that they can get that woman too much.  I hope so.  That is sad!
