  1. I don't think the grooms father makes a speach, I thought it was just the Father of the bride, the groom and the best man.  I have never known the grooms dad to give a speach too

  2. he does an embarrasing speech and th best man does one as well

  3. as little as possible

  4. You start by saying " Ladies and Gentlemen, will all the ugly people come to the front" - look around for 10 seconds or so and then say "Oh, you're already there!

It always raises a laugh particularly after the guests have had a few glasses of wine and sets a friendly, informal tone for the rest of the speech.

  5. He should thank everyone for coming to share the special day. He should say how gorgeous the ladies look. That he is so pleased that his son has married such a smashing lady from a great family. Probably follow with a funny story about the groom.

  6. Anything he likes.  Traditionally, he doesn't speak at the dinner.  The brides father speaks and toasts the couple.  The groom speaks and toasts the bridesmaids.  The best man speaks and falls in the cake.

  7. This is the most miserable day of my life I have tried to warn her it has cost a fortune and I would really have preffered to buy her a house with it. But I wish her luck.

  8. I don't think it's traditional to say anything, not that that would stop my partners dad I'm sure.

  9. He should make a speech thanking the people that have turned up at the wedding, and then a little story that may emabarass the groom.

  10. I don't think you'll need those shotguns at the ceremony tomorrow.

  11. Should the bride be a former prostitute who's family lived off her earnings, then the Groom's father should say nothing. He can say more and more as her record is less and less lurid.

  12. It's to welcome the bride into his family.  He can also take that time to welcome the brides family into his family also. Also, he is suppose to  at that time,  wish the bride & his son the best life has to offer.

  13. It's not required but if he so desires he can say whatever he likes.Nice girl, lucky son, gaining a daughter, glad you paid the bill etc.
