15 to 25 lbs. of pressure on the guage. Anything over that, clean the filter

Your initial start up ( clean filter) could be anywhere from 3 to 30 PSI. It all depends on the plumbing run and the flow rate on the pump. Every pool is different. All of them. To determine when you need to clean your filter, just take your initial start up pressure and add 5-8 psi. It hits that pressure and it's time to clean.
