  1. ideal for competitive swimming is 78, and that's all over the world, not just in Illinois


  2. the Temperature should be whatever you can stand.  There is no ideal temperature, as some people prefer warmer and colder temps.

  3. As cold as you can stand it.  If you are swimming laps you may want the temp to be 68*.  If you are floating around you want it to be 85*

  4. 70 is comfortable
