It is called ECO- Environmental Concern Organization. the name is kind of self explanitory. I need some good things to discuss and other ideas on what we should do.

  1. Find out what the members of your group are most passionate about saving (because the world is a big place and lots of things need help but that is a pretty big task to be taking on right from the get-go).  My current projects include saving the polar bears from extinction, preventing a toll-road from being built over a national park, and the recycling service that I recently started.  Good luck!

  2. It has to be Permaculture. Browse the questions and answers on Permaculture Bella's profile and follow the links on her profile particularly the video links. Permaculture should be taught to every child in every school in ever Country in the world.

  3. Besides the obvious global warming, I would work on issues close to home. What changes can you work on in your school, community, and state? Can you help organize a clean up of the school grounds or a park? Maybe help develop a community garden with some food going to needy people or a food bank. Increase the recycling in your school - have classes compete against each other as to who can make the LEAST amount of trash, or use the least amount of energy per school. Making presentations to younger grades on environmental issues would benefit both you and them since learning to speak in front of people is a good life skill- and seeing older kids concerned with the environment is a great influence.  If field trips are an option - volunteer at your local Environment Center or Arboretum - they love free labor to fix trails and such! There are MANY things you can do! Have fun!

  4. Talk about the US ethanol policy.  Maybe do some research on how much energy you actually get out of corn based ethanol, you might be surprised how little it iS!

  5. Real practical ideas for making a difference - how to save energy, how to reduce water use, composting, recycling - all the little things that we can all do to help the planet.

  6. Try this topic ,I rarely hear any one mention, but it is interesting.-------"why is there so much production of ,and even  duplication of unnessary goods"

  7. if you were really that Eco friendly you would have a list of things to discuss already, things that you feel need to be done ,or wrongs that are happening

maybe politics to better or initiate some actions.

People who want to do these things have a mountain of material that they cannot vent as things are ,so to start a group or a chat room is the natural way of expanding

Is your organization ,general world philosophies or is it a local operative plan

In the case of the latter find out what you can change that is NOT eco friendly ,and start arranging remedies ..

Setting up meetings ,work out an Agenda ,and game plan

like cleaning up riversides ,or planting trees ,

Promote recycling operations ,such as the collection of material and the processing ,this lacks every where

Promote Environmental Awareness in  Educational system,

Some countries already start this in kiddie school.

Initiate alternatives for dumping trash ,such as bins or containers on sites where people are now dumping on the ground.

    Promote water conservation,http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

    etc ,http://byderule.multiply.com/journal/ite...

    eco friendly methods or behavior

Expose and correct contaminating factors ,such as sewage getting into the water courses.

people burning trash,or Organics getting in to the land fills

A municipal composting or worm culture operation ,that produces organic fertilizer with a towns organic wastes can be very lucrative ,All you need to start is a plot of land and a dump truck to collect.

As they say there is money in Muck

Are you City ,Suburban or Country ??

Try to link into the municipal (local Government )system for collaboration.

If it is world philosophies ,

  8. It seems to me that many people like to debate whether or not global warming can be stopped and a lot of people debate the best energy source but almost nobody is talking about creative ways to get the public involved in paying for safe clean fuel sources. Starting new systems takes a lot of money and seems to be going against the tide when current fuels already have powerful support and have huge subsidies that the big money people are not anxious to lose.

So start small, talk with your public utility and think about ways to let the small local people put a little of their own money into new solar installations on businesses and at malls. Talk about net metering so every dollar the little guy invests with the utility can be deducted from their electric bill. It will take a lot of patience and a lot of careful organization to make a dent but it has to get started now and it takes a lot of people like you who want to do something but don't have a lot of power or money but have lots of enthusiasm. Talk to business owners and get their impressions and get them involved. Do your homework.  Ask your utility company for ideas but don't let anyone's hesitancy stop you. If you have enough support from your organization and from the associated business, you may have a powerful argument for your case.

Please keep thinking. We are currently suffering from a lack of a decent, safe energy policy and it looks like it will continue to get far worse until we can tell folks who want to cheat and destroy us to stuff it. I hesitate to use the phrase from my era but it seems really appropriate at this time "Make love, not war."

That is another idea ... the concept that eco-friendly is also "maybe we can save the planet a little easier if we try to win friends by treating them as friends instead of evil empires." What could be more eco friendly than to save our men and women's lives avoiding wars to get oil and to convert everyone to both Christianity and democracy.

Another idea is the concept of a plug-in hybrid car. If it was available, I could plug in my car at night and charge it, then drive to and from work every day and not use one drop of gas unless I wanted to drive further. Then the car would simply use gas like any other car. Your organization could begin convincing auto dealerships that your next car will be a plug in or you will keep the one you have until they make one. If we demand it, they will make it. If we continue to be wimps and buy only what they make, well, we'll continue to see our gas cost more.
