  1. Well, you're right, it is generally bad news.

Hence the reason our founding Fathers did not put a system like that in from the beginning.

It teaches people to be lazy and the rest (the workers) Don't see it.

What we SHOLULD do, is go back to the EXACT way our founders told us, but government, public schools, the media, and brain-washed people don't want to.

Read "The 5,000 year leap" By W. Cleon Skousen.  You'll learn what we SHOULD do... but aren't.

  2. we should do as president Bush suggested and allow a percentage to be given back for investment in 401K and IRA accounts. Oh and Cheney, it was the Democrats in the 60s that first prorated the SSI so they could fund LBJ's great society programs.

  3. Liberal  Programs never work.

We need to phase this out and become responsible again.

  4. Just keep on paying....I love it on the third of every month...just like clockwork...unless a weekend or hoilday gives it to me on the first...........ain't it just wonderful...I would thank you for paying it in, but I did the same thing you're

doing and now it's drawing time....I've earned my keep, now get back to work...we've gabbed long enough!

  5. They should start a gradual process of raising the eligibility age for SS benefits. 1935's 65 year olds are today's, say, 72 year olds. Phase it in starting over many years, so that no one who is 61 right now gets screwed -- give people plenty of time to adjust.

  6. No, because in a Ponzi scheme, only the people at the top collect.  Social Security pays even the little guy.

The way to keep it is simple, raise the cap on the amount of income its taken out of.

Right now its about $90,000 or so, and after that, you don't pay anything at all, even if you make a million dollars.

So raise it to reflect the increases in longevity and it ceases to be a problem as long as the government stops playing creative accounting with it.

The amount of SS is called FICA on your paycheck it should be broken down on your stub.

Privatization is a poor idea, one that Bush couldn't even get through his Republican Congress.  The whole purpose of SS was to provide some security for the elderly during the Depression, when banks failed and stocks weren't any kind of good investment.

We didn't want people left penniless in case of a repeat.

    Like now.

  7. Insist that the government tell us how much has been taken from S.S., & pay it all back!  The government has robbed S.S. for generations, they need to pay it back, with interest!  No one on the political scene is taking about this travisty, why not is my question to those on the stump to become President!  They talk about spending money for this & that but never about the mess the government has made of S.S., they need to pay the people who have invested in the program all of their lives, by reinvesting the money used for other things, back into S.S.!  The people should demand it be done!
